Why should I get my car detailed?
You should have your vehicle professionally detailed for a few reasons. Having your vehicle professionally detailed not
only keeps your car looking new, it is also a very important maintenance step that is usually over looked. Unprotected paint will fail prematurely, fade, oxidize, and lose its original luster if not cared for properly. Trim and exterior plastics can fade and crack if not frequently protected with proper products. Interior detailing can not only improve the appearance of your interior, it will also preserve your plastics, leather, and vinyl surfaces. Did we mention it will also remove allergens? If you plan on selling your car, it is a proven fact that a detailed car will bring in a higher selling price. Your vehicle is one of your most expensive investments, keep it protected form the harsh elements.
What is Automobile Detailing?
Detailing is a word that has taken on many meanings over time, and has actually lost its true definition.. Many shops offer a wash and wax as a detail, which it is not. It is a wash and wax. Detailing is a very time consuming and meticulous process, which includes an extremely thorough cleaning, polishing, and waxing, both inside and out. Exterior detailing usually consists of many steps, to include washing, claying, polishing, waxing, and/or paint sealing.
The Shop down the road charges a lot less than you do. Why?
You get what you pay for! Tex Star Detail offers superior service, using proper techniques and chemicals. We use new microfiber towels for each vehicle and do not re-use dirty rags on different cars like many 'production' shops. If you compare our services with many of our competitors, you will see that they are very different. Tex Star Detail will be happy to answer ANY questions you may have about detailing.
Do you Price Match?
No. Tex Star Detail does NOT match competitors prices, sales, or coupons.
What is a "Clay Bar" or the "Clay Process"?
Clay is a process used to remove paint contaminants on the paint such as bugs, tar, road grime, fallout, tree sap, some paint over spray, and other contaminants that washing cannot remove. The Clay Process actually cleans below the paint surface to remove the contaminants that grip the paint. Does your car need the clay bar process before a detail? YES. Claying is one of the most important step in cleaning the paint, and actually cleans the paint better than a wash alone.
Where are you located?

What is the difference between a WAX and a PAINT SEALANT?
There is a huge difference between waxes and paint sealants. We will start off with waxes.
A Wax is arguably the most popular term for protection on a vehicle. It will improve the depth and shine of your paint and give it that warm "glow" to the paint. A "pro" to wax is the looks. A "con" of a wax is the durability. A wax generally lasts 1-2 months. The longevity of protection really depends on the climate. Hotter and more humid climates generally lessen the life span of a wax and it's ability to protect your paint. Tex Star Detail recommends a wax every 1-2 months.
A Paint Sealant is almost the opposite of a wax, though they both do the same thing, protect. A Paint Sealant lasts a lot longer than a wax. Generally, paint sealant will last 4-5 months. Paint Sealant is made of polymers, which are made from thousands of synthetic particles that link together and form a "shield" on your paint surface, giving it a hard, glass look.
If you are looking for durability, a paint sealant is the way to go.
I have scratches in my paint, will waxing make them go away?
No. Waxing (or a paint sealant) will not remove scratches. A good way to explain wax is to compare it to what a raincoat does. Wax is just a form of protection for your paint. To remove the scratches, the paint will have to be compounded or polished. In some instances, the paint may need to be color sanded. Scratches that are too deep will need to be refinished at a reputable paint and body shop.
